Winners OnTurtle La Jonquera and DELTA PARK Truck Secure Parking smile with members of the Jury TVM, IRU, UETR, ACEA, CLECAT and MEP Kosma Zlotowski.

Delta Truck Park Securing Parking in Dourges, France and On Turtle La Jonquera in Spain were voted European Truck Parkings of the Year 2024, respectively, in the category large parking areas (above 50 places) and small parking areas (up to 50 places) by ESPORG’s international jury[1], composed of representatives of leading road transport stakeholders and governmental and non-governmental institutions and bodies.

In particular, the jury commended the high quality of services offered to drivers by the two winners, their adaptability to the specific needs of the drivers and their ambition to innovate.

Fred Notte, Vice President of Delta Park Truck Secure Parking, Mediterranean region said: “It’s an honor for us to receive this prestigious award. When building Delta Park our target was to create a site offering the best possible resting conditions for the drivers, without making any compromises on safety and security. This award, presented by industry experts, proves that we achieved our goal and that we are on the right track for future projects.

Pablo Combalía, Business Development Manager of On Turtle said “We are grateful to be recognized as the European Truck Parking of the Year 2024 by ESPORG. To be awarded with this recognition this year, explains our purpose of maintaining the highest quality and ensure the highest level of security for our customers. We are continuously looking for excellence, setting the customer at the core of our business. We would like to express our gratitude to ESPORG, for setting standards to ensure secure parking locations throughout Europe and constantly looking to connect members and affiliates for the common goal of making our Industry more secure”.

Kristian Schmidt, Director for Land Transport at the European Commission said: “We support the development of an EU-wide network of safe and secure parking areas, to improve drivers’ working conditions, protect loads against cargo crime and contribute to improving road safety.

The jury commended in particular the 2022 winner and 2023 runner up, Truck Etape Béziers, who came second in the ranking, for maintaining the exceptionally high quality of service and customer care and awarded them with the European Excellence in Truck Parking 2024 runner-up certificate.

Certificates of excellence were awarded also to Truck Arena 31, Calsina y Carre, CertasEnergyRetail, Truck Park Brescia Est, and TWV Secure Park.

Kosma Zlotowski, Member of the European Parliament, said: “The road transport sector is not just about vehicles or infrastructure, but above all about the drivers who travel thousands of kilometres to keep our economy running smoothly. Their safety, health and proper working conditions should be a priority for us. That is why it is so important to promote those parking and rest areas that meet the highest standards. We have far too few such places, as I myself have said many times in the European Parliament. This award proves that it is possible to create such high quality parking areas in Europe. I congratulate the winners and I hope that in future editions, the selection of the winners will be even more difficult and that the number of such places on the most important roads in the EU will constantly increase. This is the only way we will attract young people to the industry by providing the right comfort!

At today’s Award Ceremony, Michael Nielsen, President of ESPORG, commented: “We want to congratulate our winners and runner-up, and indeed all our candidates, for their outstanding achievement and quality of services to professional drivers. We commit to contribute further to excellence in offering services to our drivers in Europe and beyond, whilst at the same time rewarding the abundance of excellence, which already exist in our business.”

The aim of the ESPORG Excellence in Truck Parking Award is to promote excellence and to help spread good practices in view of improving safety, security and quality of services offered by truck parking operators to professional truck drivers across Europe and beyond, and, by doing so, to enhance the attractiveness and appeal of the driver profession to an increasingly diverse and wider public, including young people and women.
