Silver SSTPAs open in Greece

On July 10, 2024, Aegean Motorways celebrated the opening of their two silver certified safe and secure parking areas in Aerino, Greece.

Aegean Motorway S.A. has developed and currently operates two safe and secure truck parking areas (SSTPAs) at Aerino (one per direction), on 302.5KM of the A1 motorway (part of the E-75 motorway) in Greece. Both parking areas were built through the support of Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) funding.

The SSTPAs in Aerino offer a secure place for all truck drivers to park their vehicles for any time they wish and make use of the special services that are provided, such as:

  • showers for men and women
  • driver lounge area
    • indoor and outdoor area with TV, tables and chairs, food & beverages vending machines, water cooler, etc.
  • WCs for men and women
  • electricity supply
  • Parking system, with entry/exit bars and automatic payment counters
  • online booking application

and security measures appropriate for the certified silver level of the EU-Parking Standard, such as:

  • 24-hour monitoring system
  • Controlled entry/exit
  • Appropriate fencing, lighting and sign

Each SSTPA is developed within an area of 18,000 square meters and contains 36 secure truck parking spaces, including 9 spaces which accommodate refrigerated trucks. Outside the secure perimeter of the SSTPAs, the facility offers parking spaces for private cars and buses, as well as WC for public use.
