On October 29, 2024, ESPORG hosted an online workshop with presenters from the European Commission and the Association of European Vehicle Logistics (ECG) regarding LHVs, or longer heavier vehicles.
The online workshop attracted quite a few participants from all over Europe and beyond, including several government officials and industry stakeholders. The topic of longer heavier vehicles has been an issue for quite some time, and ESPORG wanted to take the opportunity to address the challenges head on.
Presenters from the workshop included
- Aurora García de Sandoval, policy officer from DG MOVE, Road Transport Unit, who presented the revision of the EU directive on weights and dimensions, with a specific emphasis on trucks.
- Mike Sturgeon from The Association of European Vehicle Logistics (ECG), who provided ECG’s experience in parking their longer trucks.
- Marc Van Grootel, ex-driver and consultant for the European Secure Parking Organisation (ESPORG), who discussed his own experiences in parking longer heavier vehicles.
