ESPORG Study Workshop at Green Logistics Fair in Padua

The Green Logistics Fair took place in Padua, Italy, from October 9-11th. On October 10th, Unione Interporti Riuniti graciously hosted a workshop called “Safe &Secure Parking Areas for Trucks (SSTPAs) Current Status and Perspectives”.

ESPORG participated in the workshop as presenters, facilitators and data collectors. As a part of the study, “Study on the Availability of Suitable Rest Facilities for Professional Drivers and Secured Parking Facilities, as well as on the Development of Safe and Secure Parking Facilities in the EU” (MOVE/C1/SER/2023-138) launched by DG MOVE, ESPORG has been collecting qualitative information, and in Padua, the organisation facilitated an engaging interactive session with Italian participants. Topics such as Compliance and Certification, Awareness and Education, Long Resting Times and Mobility, Infrastructure and Fleet Management, Sustainable Energy, Digitalization and Crime Reduction. Database and Security and Driver Wellbeing and Collaboration were explored with several Italian stakeholders during the event.

Other speakers at the workshop included moderator Andrea Ballarin, General Secretary Europlatforms as well as Gianfranco De Angelis, General Secretary UIR, Davide Bordoni, RAM S.p.A, who spoke about funding opportunities for SSTPAs and current initiatives of the CEF Program and the 2024 Call, Vittorio Giorgi from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, who gave the Italian national perspective and Matteo Arena, logistics expert who elaborated on the PASS4CORE initiatives.
